EMC supplies information and virtual infrastructure solutions in the data storage industry. Their AX series is an entry-level option which is capable of supporting two to four Gigabit transfer speeds in addition to multiple RAID levels. CX models support SATA disks, varying RAID levels, and numerous group configurations. These models have since been discontinued but may be purchased as refurbished servers.
Celerra models are NAS devices that can be in the form of an integrated unit or serve as a header for independent backup solutions like CLARiiON. The hardware supports a number of protocols including CIFS, NFS, FTP, and TFTP. It may also be used to implement block-level storage by means of iSCSI or Fibre channel technology. EMC promotes this particular platform in regards to virtualization. Optional features include replication, storage tiering, and de-duplication capabilities. The hardware operates in real-time along with the same architecture as CLARiiON arrays. This product has also been discontinued but may be purchased through secondhand distributors in remanufactured condition.
